| Abstract: | The aim of this stydy was to asses s the potency of different plant extracts (Arak obtained from Tchad and Sudan Salavdora persica) Syzygium aromaticum and fruits of Accacia nilotica against dlfferent bacteria isolated from patients suffer from dental caries attending different dental hospital Samples were transported on a carier solution، the pathogenic bacteria were isolated and identified on Mackonky ، blood agar and nutrient Media .that were found to be Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Lactobacillus and Coccus. Plants were extracted by two types of solvents ، ethanol and n-dhexane. The extract was diluted two folds from 100% to. 6.25 %. However, a commercial different type of antibiotics concentrations from10 mg to 30 mg/mL, were also used. All microbes isolated were tested for both their sensivity and the MIC tets using Muller Hinton agar media. Results showed that bacteria Staphylococcus, coccus and streptococcus were equally reported to be higly sensitivity 25-45mm; Bacillus was more sensitivity to the clove oil (50mm). For the antibiotic sensitivity all of them were sensitive to tetracycline 35-45mm zone of inhibition but at the same time gentamycine was less effectivity 20-35mm zone of inhibition. MIC tests were performed on the isolated pathogenic bacteria. Results showed both Acacia fruits and Arak extract have the same effect (3.5mg/mL) for all bacteria tested but the clove oil had high potency for inhibiting bacterial growth 0.6-1.25mg/mL. Generely hexane extraction gave better results compared to the methanololic extract and Syzygium aromaticum extract gave better than all other extracts tested. It was conduded that plant extrat could be used to sublement or substitute the commercial antibiotic for dental caries diseases. |
