| Abstract: | This study deals with “The missionary movement in Senegal”, and aims to develop cultural awareness of the phenomenon of Christianization in Senegal by highlighting the most prominent means of missionary movements and their methods in Senegal, and to reveal the most important churches and missionary organizations working in the square, in addition to show the extent of the success of the Christianization movement in achieving its goals in Senegal, with the presentation of scientific and practical ways and strategies that will contribute to resisting Christianization in the country. The problem of the study is evidenced by the intensity of missionary activity in Senegal and its advanced steps that are hidden by many who carry the concerns of advocacy and reform in the country, which drew the attention of the researcher and raised his interest in the topic. The study posed a major question: To what extent have the missionary movements succeeded in achieving their goals in Senegal, and what are the most important means and methods adopted? Among the most important hypotheses of the study: ⁃ The most important means of Christianization in Senegal are education, social services, and the media. ⁃ There are organizations in Senegal that seek missionary aims under the guise of charity. ⁃ The missionary movements in Senegal succeeded in achieving the aspect of undermining beliefs and spoiling values and ethics from their goals. The study followed the historical and descriptive analytical method, and reached several conclusions and recommendations: ⁃ The means and methods of work for the missionaries in Senegal are concentrated in: education, social work, humanitarian services, and the media, in addition to translating the gospels into the country's local dialects. ⁃ The study highlighted that the two tribes (Jolla and Sirir) are the Senegalese tribes most exposed to Christianization, and that the Catholic Church is more popular than its counterparts in the Senegalese arena. |
