Abstract: This study aims at discovering the problems that encounter Arabic language in Teaching Reading and Writing Skills to Native Swahili Speakers; The Study is based on the performance of the Students of Institute of Arabic Language at International University of Africa, with the aim of determining those problems and identifying their causes. The community of the study is composed of native Swahili speaking students at the Institute of Arabic language of International University of Africa. The researcher opted the sample randomly for fifty male and female students. He used the descriptive approach for analysis as well as the questionnaire addressing native Swahili speaking students at the Institute in the analysis; the researcher used a simple percentage statistics to reach the results. The most important results reached by the researcher are the following: 1. There is difficulty in teaching reading and writing skills in different following aspects: a) There is difficulty in distinguishing between long and short inflections such as (nominative, genitive and accusative). b) There is difficulty in reading and writing when words rendered without Vowels. ح c) There is difficulty in understanding the meaning of vocabularies, sentences, and structures when reading and writing. d) There is difficulty in pronouncing some consonants such as ق/غ/ع/ظ/ط/ض/ص/ذ/خ/ح 2. Both reading and writing skills are very important in teaching Arabic language to non-native speakers. 3. Inexistence of teaching technology and lack of training in both of reading and writing skills have weakened standards. 4. Lack of experience weakens the performance of teaching reading and writing skills. 5. The use of colloquial Arabic to explain lessons during the teaching of reading and writing skills weakens standards.
