| Abstract: | The Research deals with the difficulties of teaching and learning grammar and morphology in the islamic and arabic schools of Senegal, as well as methods to remedy them. It aims to detect and identify these difficulties and the methods of treating them. The research problem lies in answering the main following question: What are the difficulties in teaching and learning grammar and morphology in Senegalese’s islamic and arabic schools? To lead the study field, the researcher selected a sample of students, teachers, educators and supervisors, and used tools represented in questionnaires, note card, and diagnostic test, in order to identify difficulties in teaching and learning grammar and morphology. In light of these questions, the research aims to verify the following hypotheses: The books set forth in grammar and morphology do not observe the principles of teaching the arabic language to speakers of other languages, and their contents are inappropriate, and the methods used are traditional and do not take into account the principles of teaching the arabic language to speakers of other languages. After collecting and sorting the questionnaires, and correcting the diagnostic test, the researcher confirmed the validity of the study tools, and discovered that there are difficulties in teaching and learning grammar and morphology, due to the learner, to the books, to teaching methods and to lack of qualification and training of teachers, and to other reasons. In light of these results, the researcher, in this study, found: • The inevitability of understanding the coherence, concordance and complementarity of grammar and morphology topics, as they are relevant to the realities of students’ lives and linked to other language subjects; • The need to guide students to specialized books in grammar and morphology, to find out the nature of grammatical and morphological rules, and to know the usefulness of their study; • Attaching particular importance to modern trends in language teaching and good knowledge of modern methods in teaching grammatical and morphological rules; The necessity of reconsidering and revising radically the articles of grammar and morphology to reduce the importance of studying traditional grammatical and morphology rules in the curricula. *** |
